Juicing

For Christmas I got a JUICER! I’ve been wanting one for about the past year but more expressly so over the past two months. Last semester I did a health blog for my mass media class. As a part of this assignment I watched quite a few documentaries about health and wellness. One was the Gerson Therapy and another was Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. In these I realized the properties of juicing and how important it is {especially in this day, age, and nutritional starvation} for me to get all the nutrients that I am not getting because of our culture and government {not to mention multimillion dollar companies}. In Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead there is a woman who tries the juicing because she suffers from migraines. This got me interested in trying this juicing fast. In understanding and agreeing with the Gerson therapy, which is that the body has the ability and desire to heal itself, it just needs the right food to do so, I realized that I needed to give my body the right ingredients to heal itself. So, the hubs and I are going on a two week juicing fast/cleanse. I am really excited to start tomorrow. I feel like I’ve needed this for three months now and I am finally getting to start it all. I know people have said that its hard, but I’ve done so much harder things this should be a breeze. But I think what will make it the easiest is that I’ve been waiting so long to start and that my body is starving for nutrition and to do this.

After the two weeks juicing is not going bye bye. I am going to keep it forever and always. Juicing with breakfast. Juicing with dinner. Juicing for snacks. What I am doing instead is after the two weeks of just juicing, we are going to reintroduce one meal into the mix {most likely dinner} and keep {forever} the portions small. All whole grain. Small dairy. Very small meat. Greater vegetables and fruits with protein and nutrients. Then after that and some time we’ll add another meal {lunch} and also keep the portions small. Then we’ll reintroduce another meal {if needed more than just juicing, breakfast}. Then we’ll see about those small favorites we have {chips, chocolate/ice cream}.

This is all about lifestyle change. If we want to feel and be healthier we can’t just do a “diet” and think that we’ll feel better and life will be amazing. We have to assess what we’re doing wrong, fix it, and keep it fixed. Because if not, when we stop the change, we stop the feeling it brings {healthiness}. So here’s to a new year and a new lifestyle “healthy and nutritious”!
